Christmas Delivery 22nd December Update

Hello to all our customers,

Earlier today all Gift Baskets and Hampers were dispatched on an Express Delivery Service to give them the best possible chance of arrival before Christmas.
Whilst the major carriers are reporting some delays in making delivery due to the extreme weather conditions, they are working hard to clear their depots before Christmas.

Here at Basketsgalore we have been greatly inconvenienced by the snowy weather. At the weekend an electrical snow storm meant that we had to evacuate our warehouse at 9pm and make good our escape home in a mini. However we have completely cleared all orders received by 1pm on Tuesday by 6pm the same day. The pallet trucks cannot be used as the snow is 8-10 inches deep. During the day staff are called away to push vans and lorries out of the snow laden with Christmas Gift Baskets. Yet they are all getting away.

It is now 1.30am GMT on Wednesday and we will be dispatching any late orders later today at 5pm availing once again of the Express delivery service. The cut off point will be approximately 2pm GMT and we are still able to offer a comprehensive range of hampers to choose from. Once again we reiterate that Pre Christmas delivery cannot be guaranteed.

The courier companies that we are using will re-open on 29th and 30th of December should pre Christmas delivery prove beyond them. Weather conditions as I write are approximately (-12 degrees) Freezing Cold temperatures are expected too persist through to the new year, so as you can imagine there is little problem concerning perishability. All our fresh salmon and ham hampers are enclosed in cold packages and boxes with ice gel packs, which will stay solid due to the low temperatures whilst in transit. Shelf life of salmon being dispatched this week is 13th January, so there is nothing to worry about it arriving past its sell by date.

We hope you enjoy your gift basket this Christmas time. We thank you for your custom and we will continue to be here right up until Christmas Eve.

Sincerely,

BG

Christmas Delivery & The Weather

Hello Gift Basketeers,

As you all know the weather is set to take a turn for the worse on Thursday so thought we would share the latest data available to us.

Basketsgalore operates with road and air freight services across the UK, Europe and Ireland. Here are things as they stand as of 18:35 Wednesday 15th December. We are experiencing no delays whatsoever in order processing and dispatch with excellent availability across the range.

Europe: Road Service with a guide of 2-3 working days is no longer likely to mean pre- Christmas Delivery. Consequently we recommend that if your hamper is time sensitive, we recommend you use the Express Air Service.

UK: Basketsgalore operates with a 8am and 5pm collection schedule. Consequently all orders received by 19.00 tonight will be dispatched in the morning. They will be in the UK's central depot later that day and will be out for delivery on Friday. The couriers will be working at the weekend to clear the anticipated volume of orders.
Orders received between 19.00 and 15.00 Thursday 16th December will be airfreighted overnight and will still be out for delivery on Friday 17th December (according to the advice provided to me by the courier liason officers)

If you have stated that you want delivery to be made next week, we are sorry to inform you that due to the highly inclement weather conditions anticipated, we do not recommend you take the chance. The information we are receiving is that the couriers are still clearing the backlog of orders from the last cold period.

For all orders received after 15.00 on Thursday, you next date of dispatch is Monday 20th December. However, we may attempt to dispatch a few consignments on Friday. Whilst dispatch on this day in the past few years has been sufficient time for delivery to take place, the weather this year means that it cannot be 100% guaranteed as it has been in the past. It is highly likely that with 5 delivery days, your hamper will be delivered before Christmas day, but certain parts of the country may be under snow by Monday. We will keep our customers posted on a daily basis.

For Ireland, all orders go by road and there will be some delays. We will be working through tonight to send all orders tomorrow morning around 10am, which will allow delivery attempts on Friday and/or weekend.

All major online retailers have been advised that pre Christmas delivery is not guaranteed for consignments received after this Friday. Hopefully the weather will not be as severe as what is predicted and the disruption will be kept to a minimum.

A further update will be available on Christmas Hamper Delivery around the same time tomorrow.

Duc du Gascogne Pate

Hello everybody,]

Just arrived in this morning is the Duc Du Gascogne pate in a variety of flavours.
Its something our customers have asked us for and we have sourced directly from France.

As far as we are aware we are the only hamper and Gift Basket company to use Duc du Gascogne in Eire and the North of Ireland. It's available to buy in several hampers or you can add it to an existing hamper. To avail of this service simply visit www.irishgourmet.ie where you can tailor design your own special Christmas hamper. Have fun!

Gabriel Dubarry founded the Ducs de Gascogne Cooperative at Gimont in Le Gers, land of the Foie Gras in 1953. In 1978 the first Duc du Gascogne shop was opened and the company started exporting in 1987 from France.
In 1999, the Duc du Gascogne brand was recognised by an independent study as the 3rd most recognisable brand by French consumers. However it is largely unknown within the UK and Ireland.
Their current Managing Director is Laurence Dubarry, grand-daughter of the original founder.

We're stocking several flavours including 2 organic pates, which are written as Biologique on the packaging. Also the old tradition duck pate recipe along with a mini selection pack comprising of 60g each of rabbit pate, wild boar, duck and tradional country pate.

Just something a little different from Hamper and Gift Basket company based in Ireland where we help to make Irish food products the stars.

Gift Baskets - Christmas Schedule

Hello to all our customers and Merry Christmas.

As you know our gift baskets and hampers are extremely distinctive.
Its the combination of freshly baked items, salmon and hams which sets a Basketsgalore Hamper apart from any other hamper in the UK market.

So although it may sound terribly boring, we thought our customers would like to know shelf lives of some of the more perishable items.

For Gift Baskets being dispatched today with salmon, chicken or duck, the Best Before Dates are as follows.

Hampers with Organic Salmon 200g 31/12/2010
Hampers with Organic Salmon 500g 31/12/2010
Ummera Duck Breast 9/1/2010
Chicken Crown 3/1/2010

If your Hamper contains ham then the Best Before Date will be:

Montelieri Ham 120g 9/2/2010
Brady Family Traditional Glazed 28/2/2010
Brady Family 1/2kg Unboned Carving Ham 31/12/2010
Brady Family Traditional Sliced Ham 140g 28/12/2010
Pergola Fine Foods Salami 28/6/2010

If you are ordering a hamper or Gift Basket for delivery in the UK, Ireland or Europe and you would like to add cheese then the following BBE dates apply

Fivemiletown Selection Pack 500g 9/1/2010
Fivemiletown Individual Brie or soft Cheese 30/12/2010
Cashel Blue (Irish Stilton style Cheese) 4/1/2010
Causeway Cheese Cheddar Truckles 200g 14/1/2010
Bandon Vale Waxed Truckles 200g 2/2/2010

We've got quite a few freshly baked items which because they do not contain preservatives and are freshly baked can have quite short shelf lives. Certainly they will not have several months shelf life as you would have with a traditional fruit cake.

So if your hamper contains items such as:
Taras Chocolate Cake 400g, shelf life will be 30/12/2010
Ashers Chocolate Cakes 30/12/2010
Graces Fruit Cakes 14/1/2010
Dittys Mince Pies 30/12/2010

Throughout our christmas hamper range there are also some products which you might think have a long shelf life, but are actually quite short since they are handmade.
Skelligs chocolates for instance will have an April Best Before Date. However other chocolatiers, such as Butlers and Lindt will have at least 6 months and usually 9 months as they are bought in especially for Christmas.

There are hampers in our range, which do contain products with a long shelf life and you can email or telephone one of our sales assistants who will be able to assist you. However, the overriding theme is one of freshness and best taste, so to acquire this, the products ought to be eaten over the Christmas period.

We hope you enjoy browsing our selection of fresh gift baskets and hampers. Our customers have been designing some beautiful hampers themselves, some of which will be represented in future Gift Basket Designs later in the year.

We'll keep you up to date with delivery schedules and up to the minute news from us at Basketsgalore during December as we strive to get the best quality and value for money hampers and gift baskets delivered to your family and friends this Christmas.

Regards,
Neil

Christmas Competition - All I Want For Christmas is....

All I Want For Christmas Is.....

At BasketsGalore we run a monthly competition to win a fantastic free gift basket! All you have to do to enter is "like" us on Facebook!

We then pick a number of fans at random & come up with an inventive way to pick the lucky winner. So far we have had a darts competition and a scary halloween draw of catching chocolate spiders and dunking for apples

For the Christmas Competition we have decided to do things a little differently. This month, as well as being a fan, you simply have to write on our wall "All I want for Christmas is..." and include a link to your favourite BasketsGalore hamper or gift basket. It can be a Christmas hamper or some people are picking pamper gift baskets or all year round gifts

As well as including the link to your favourite gift hamper, remember to tell us why you deserve to win. Be creative, as our favourite post(s)/comment(s) will win their chosen gift! We will announce the lucky winner(s) in mid-December.

So get looking now, and Happy Holidays everybody!
